Ruby Jean

My beautiful sister Katie just became a beautiful mother to a perfect baby girl, Ruby Jean.  Even though Ruby isn’t my baby, my world has turned upside down because of her.  She’s our family’s first baby.  We’ve all gone crazy over her, actually.  She’s the perfect version of my sister and her husband, Vic.   Depending on the angle she’s in, she looks just like either or both of them.  It literally felt like I was holding a little version of my sister.  It’s the craziest thing!!  I was so happy and excited to spend a week in New Orleans for this special occasion, and naturally, camera in hand.  I got there an hour before my sister left for the hospital, and was able to take just a few pictures.  She didn’t want to, but I kinda forced her.  In my opinion, this is when a woman is the most beautiful!  I love a big baby bump!!  So glad she relented.  She looked so gorgeous.  I couldn’t believe my little niece was right there, a perfect little human, ready to meet the world.

On 7/9, Ruby Jean was born, weighing 7lbs 9ounces.  I thought my heart was going to burst.  I was so so sooo proud of my sister.  She made the world’s most perfect, beautiful baby.  (I may be biased, but I don’t think I am.)

Now Ruby is a month old, and I’m all the way back in Florida.  Katie sends me pictures every day, and on special days I get videos and video calls!  I am completely obsessed with Ruby.  Constantly looking at the pictures and videos, and talking to my sister about every little move Ruby’s making.  (Sorry Katie!!)  I look back at these pictures from just a month ago and can’t believe how much she has grown.  It’s been A MONTH!!  I’m going back soon, and I’m just dreaming of kissing her little fat rolls and smelling her beautiful baby head.  I.CANT.WAIT.
Congratulations to Katie & Vic.  I’m so excited to watch yall on this new ride.  Yall are going to be the most amazing, loving parents a kid could ask for.
