Iceland Vow Renewal | Jen + Bill |

This is one of those sessions where you have to pinch me. Is this my life? Am I really photographing a couple IN ICELAND? Jen & Bill are a couple that my husband and I know from when we lived in Florida. We met when she was a bridesmaid at a wedding I photographed, and eventually became such close friends. They lived just a few blocks away and was always there. We shared many a game nights, craft nights, dinners, beers, and countless laughs together. When Bryan (my husband), was getting a kidney transplant, Jen & Bill sweetly gave him & his donor care packages. They were always two of the best friends a couple could have. Always thoughtful. Always fun. When we moved to the Carolinas, their friendship & presence was one of the hardest things to move away from. We miss them so much!!
But thanks to the easiness of social media, we stay in touch! Jen mentioned that they wanted to renew their vows for their 10th year anniversary, and they wanted me to photograph them! Honored, completely honored to photograph a couple who not only am I close to, but who I look up to as a couple. Their love is adorable & sweet. They make each other laugh & have the same sense of humor. I’ve always admired how they complete each other & make each other better.
When they decided Iceland was their location of choice, I was over the moon!!! I couldn’t believe this was my life! I’ve wanted to go to Iceland for the longest time! Bryan and I are also celebrating 10 years this year, and wanted to renew our vows, too. I asked if she would mind us tagging on our vows on the same trip, and she thought it would be so much fun to share that together! Our photos & story on another blog, of course. This one is all about Jen & Bill.

So plans were set! Iceland it is! Perfect destination vow renewal spot!!

We started at Selandjafoss, got soaked in the waterfall & then made our way to the famous Black Sand Beach. Jen had two amazing dresses for the different locations. She looked gorgeous in both, but of course, she would look gorgeous in absolutely anything. All the tourists agreed, as most of them stopped to take pictures of her, like she was a celebrity. There was another lady who was straight up taking TONS selfies with Jen & Bill in the background, as they were saying their vows. That was a first for me, haha! If you’ve ever been to Iceland, you know that these spots are crowded with tourists, which we knew going in. I don’t know if people were consciously trying to stay out of the way or if we were just really lucky, but the photos turned out as if we were the only ones on the beach. It turned out perfect, that is until a rain cloud was coming straight for us & we had to end early. I could have photographed them, in this place, all day.
