No one plans to get married in the freezing rain on a mountaintop. The fact is, sometimes weddings just go in the opposite way you plan. And who wouldn’t want to plan their intimate wedding on one of the most beautiful mountaintops around, Max Patch! When Savannah & Ben hired me to photograph their beautiful, intimate wedding, I was over the moon because they were some of the coolest people I’ve ever met & this was going to be a wedding to remember. Well, that was 100% true, for sure. Days leading up to the wedding day, we saw what the weather was going to be like. In the 30’s & rainy. They couldn’t postpone because their families who flew in from California were leaving the next day. So, only one thing to do! Get married!
I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining, because I’m absolutely not. Sure, it would have been an incredible wedding without the fog & ice. BUT the fact that everyone was there with smiles on their faces, in-spite of how cold & wet they were, made this wedding one of my favorites ever. Not only did they have smiles on their faces, but they were genuinely HAPPY to be standing right where they were, because they were witnessing such a sweet, perfect moment.
Did I mention the guys, who went ahead of everybody else, had literal icicles in their hair by the time the ceremony started. Literally. It was a sight to see!
Sure, we were frozen, but there was no other place we would have rather been! Savannah & Ben were smiling from ear to ear, as well as everyone there. When you’re in that situation, you have two options. Be miserable or not be miserable. No one there chose the first option. By my account, it was a perfect wedding.
