What I love about Devon & Jacob, they are EXACTLY who you see in these photos. They are so much fun, constantly goofing off & laughing together. I LOVE THAT. I could always count on them to make each other laugh.. A good genuine laugh, too. They were so perfect to work with. We had the best time.
When I first met them, I had a little freakout moment. They came over to talk about their wedding day & we got to know each other a little better. I asked Jacob what his last name was, and he said Ramsey, and instead of thinking of Gordon Ramsey or any other famous Ramsey, I immediately said, “OH, like the jewelry store.”.. not even thinking that we don’t have Ramsey stores here. He explained to Devon that they are in New Orleans, and I instantly perked up and asked if he was from there. Because, you know, that’s where I’M from. He said he’s going to school there, and I asked him if he’s going to UNO, because that’s where my sister goes. Maybe he knows her? How crazy would that be?!? He said no, he doesn’t go to UNO, he goes to the seminary. I would pay money to go back and see my face. I dropped my clipboard & pen, stood up and started pacing. I’m sure I was screaming something like “ARE YOU SERIOUS?? THAT’S WHERE I WENT!!” Before you start thinking I’m crazy, let me explain this to you. New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary isn’t the biggest school. Pretty small, actually. It’s the kind of school where you end up knowing everybody, and taking classes with everybody that goes there. Small classrooms, and not a lot of them. I went there, only for a semester & a half, before Katrina came & took me away to Florida. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I was going to meet someone who goes to my seminary while my feet were standing on FL soil. Crazy. CRAZY I TELL YOU!!
Anyway, so now I feel connected to them. Not only because of our same-school thing, but because I really loved photographing these two sweeties. They are crazy about each other & I’m crazy about them.
